Commercial Alarm Monitoring
Commercial alarm systems have evolved a lot. A loud sound or siren during a break-in
or smash & grab is not good enough!
Modern alarm systems are no longer local implementations and unconnected systems.
The equipment is more reliable and offers much better security. With professional
monitoring and a user-friendly mobile app our clients can stay connected with their
business in real-time.
Intrusion Alarm Systems
There are many integral parts to business alarm systems. Each of these has a crucial
role to play. When they are integrated well, you have a powerful commercial security
system.
Here are the main components of an alarm system: Detection Devices
Detection devices trigger when an intruder enters your building.
- Contact Switches – These are installed on doors and windows to detect whether
they are open or closed. We can use these on exterior doors and windows,
however, they are used in the interior of the building, e.g. to monitor a store
room. - Motion Detector – A motion sensor detects the presence of people in the building.
Usually, they are so-called “passive infrared” (PIR) detectors that get triggered by
the body heat emitted by a person. We install them throughout the property. - Glass Breakage Detectors – These are installed near windows and glass doors
around the perimeter of the building. In the event someone smashes the glass,
the alarm system is activated before the intruder is inside the building.
Signaling Devices
A signaling device is triggered during an intrusion. These devices are usually a siren or
a bell, visual signals use strobe lights as well. Signaling devices are passive deterrents
that prompt the intruder to vacate the premises when noticed.
Arming Stations or Keypads
Arming stations turn the intrusion alarm system ‘on’ and ‘off’. They are located inside
the building near the exit doors and allow the last user that leaves to arm the system.
Usually, this is with a code on an arming station or with a keypad. This functionality
offers more flexibility and advanced functionality, such as arming only part of the
building and providing system diagnostics.
Arming stations will indicate if the alarm is on or off and whether or not it is ready to be
activated. For example, a keypad arming station will indicate to the client if a door in the
building is left open.
Control Equipment
The control panel of the business alarm system processes all alarm activities. The
detection devices, signaling devices, and arming stations are all connected to it. These
control panels are specially designed computers that allow us to completely customize your alarm system.
Alarm Transmission
When an alarm is triggered, then the alarm transmission equipment sends a message
to our professional monitoring services and the authorities. The messages are sent through regular telephone lines, cellular or internet devices. End to End Security Systems Integration
Your business alarm system can be integrated with additional systems that further enhance your security:
- Access Control: A Card Access Control System allows you to manage who has
access to what part of the building, and at what time. - Fire Protection: connecting your smoke detector or ULC fire monitoring allows
the alarm transmission equipment to notify the fire department - A Business Security Camera system offers instant and reliable information about
every security incident. The quality of indoor and outdoor cameras has improved
dramatically, and in almost all cases we can see precisely what has triggered an
alarm and make sure we trigger the right alarm response, from dispatching
security personnel to triggering an alarm for the authorities.
Our security agents work hand in hand with business owners to set up a completely integrated security system. They will also work with the business to help monitor auxiliary devices such as compressors, generators, and high-value critical building equipment. Existing security systems are also integrated into our systems to provide a better hassle-free security system.
